9 Months

My baby Lucile turned 9 months on Valentines Day this year. On Friday we had her 9 month visit and here are her stats:
Height: 28 1/4 inches (80%)
Head:18 1/2 inches (>90%)
Weight: 17.8 lbs (30%)
She has stayed pretty consistent with her height and head but her weight keeps decreasing. So I guess I need to feed her more...or I will settle with the fact that most of my life I was probably in the 30% for weight...so I think she will survive...and prob. thank me later! :)

Another way she is like her Mom...she LOVES her chocolate!

My favorite milestone of hers: CLAPPING! Yay!

Her huge lunch spread. We are having her try just about everything each day: black beans, green beans*, peas, cucumber*, yellow peppers, tomatoes*, cheese*, bread, blueberries*, grapes*, and bananas*. Whew! (* = favs)

Other tidbits about our girl
-She loves being chased on the ground- she has gotten very fast!
- I make her leave her Binky in her crib-so when I pick her up she throws her bink back in her crib, waves, and sometimes even gets out a "buh buh" (bye, bye)
- I think we have discovered she say's "ma ma" when she is upset, or needs something and she say's "ba ba" when she is happy or exciting. Once in a while she will throw in other babbling variations but M and B are her go to consonants!
- She still loves playing with my cell phone and can even manage to make some calls...beware :)
- She is cutting her top two lateral teeth first. Not her top middle, which apparently happens to about 10% of babies
- Has never had a "sick" appointment at the doctors. She has only had a few colds. Healthy little bug! (knock on wood)
- Lucy has gotten over hating grass and now will crawl all over the field in our backyard. She totally leaves me and just follows kids (especially ones carrying balls) all over the place! So independent!
- Having said that she is a little more cautious with adults and gets a little separation anxiety, but I really think she is doing better with this. Once I leave the room she is golden!
- She is very loud! Quite a screamer!
- She can now pull herself up to her knees and even up to her feet on the couch- though it makes her very nervous!
- She loves to throw toys, and will play catch with daddy! She is pretty coordinated!
- We finally stopped wrapping her to sleep, we just set her in her crib and she is great! I was way worried about this transition, but it was very easy! She is a great little sleeper! (most of the time!)

And a milestone for her mother...she has started Lucy's scrapbook! Yay! I am doing it digitally and I am loving it! Now rest be assured her life will be documented! phew!

My Valentine

February 14th 2011

We had a really nice, fairly low key Valentines Day. I hate going out to eat on the actual day, so we did a babysitting swap with our neighbors and went out on Saturday night to a Brazilian Restaurant.(One of those all you can eat- oh how we miss Tucanos!) It was fun to get all dolled up and ride into downtown Richmond. I wish I would have taken a picture cuz we looked goood! ;) The food was excellent, the service and the atmosphere wasn't too hot but it was nice to get a date night with my hubby.

Then on Monday I spent my day with the cutest little girl in the world! What could be better than that? The weather was even nice so we got to go to the park with some friends. Later, we set up a little Valentines Day hunt for when Daddy got home, which he loved! Then we set out to grill some steak and salmon for dinner. mmm mmm! Then we put the bug to bed and Erik and I spent a romantic evening, doing none other than watching episodes from Modern family and The Big Bang Theory, not exactly lovey dovey shows, but the way I love spending my night with the Hubs.

To top the night off I opened my present from Erik which was a box of rocks! He then teased that he was getting me a wagon for my birthday and thought business could really take off if I took these rocks door to door to sell. (something I actually did do when I was like 7 years old and my family will never let me forget! ha!) I was a little confused, but was happy to hear they weren't just any rocks (and were not for me to sell),  I was getting a hot stone massage from Erik! Ahh! Heaven! You don't understand, I am pretty sure if the Dentist thing doesn't work out Erik could easily be a masseuse! He is sooo good at massages! And he say's he loves giving them. He wants to get a table some day and I am ALL for it!  So, these hot stones just made the massage that much better! It was amazing! I seriously feel like I never need to go to a spa he does that good of a job! And he sets up the atmosphere with music and candles and good smelling lotion so I really feel like I am at a spa. It was so relaxing! The perfect gift!

It was a great day spent with the two loves of my life! I am one lucky girl!

Diaper Dash

Sorry this is really long, but it's a pretty good story-

If you know me you know I LOVE to get a good deal. Particularly on diapers- I mean those things are so expensive! So when I heard that Babies R' Us was having a "Diaper Dash" I knew what we were doing on Saturday. Yes, yes, I am already using my child to make me money, terrible, I know! Not to mention the free Panda express meal I got "for Lucy" the other day. That was one annoyed Chinese lady...."What your 8 month baby doesn't eat firecracker chicken?"
Anyways, really I didn't think Lucy would have a shot at the crawling competition. She really is not THAT fast and she gets nervous with other people etc. I just thought it would be fun at least for Erik and I (wow I really am a bad parent!)
Well I told Erik and he was So excited! I knew this would be right up his ally. And boy was I right! I came downstairs and Erik was changing Lucy into her sweats to get ready to go. (I was really wishing we had a sweat band for her!) Then he starts "stretching" with her. Moving her legs and everything. Followed by making her practice crawling to him and me. Then I finish getting ready and come back down and Erik is feeding her orange slices, he tells me- "for energy of course!" My husband cracks me up! He made it so fun and we hadn't even gotten there yet!

Then we get in the car and he asks "Where is that old c-d of yours you used to warm up to at your church basketball games?" (embarrassing, i know, but true!) And, even more embarrassing I had it rather handy. So we BLAST "Space Jam" , "We will rock you" and "Man, I feel like a Woman", and by the time we get to the store we are PUMPED and ready to go!

We check her in- go number 17!!!! (such an ugly number but Lucy rocked it!)

Our little athlete hanging out at the starting line ready to get the show on the road! So no one showed up for Lucy's heat- there were 5 heats and whoever won those qualified for the championship race. Well all Lucy had to do was cross the finish line since no other babies were there...lame I know, but hey it was good practice!

And she's off! I knew me filming would get her to come to me, she loves the camera!

Yay! For basically showing up we won a $50 gift card to Kiddie Kandids and a $10 gift card to Babies R' Us

Well once the championship race came along we were way to serious about winning to think about taking pictures or even filming-too big of a risk!  So, unfortunately we don't have any of that documented but let me just say it was hilarious! There was only 3 babies. Each girls, each about the same age as Lucy. So one of the girls was super fast and was quick out of the gate...but lucky for us stopped about 3/4 the way and was just overwhelmed by it all and was looking around, and then turned around! (secret cheers)
The rules were that that a parent could be at the finish line waving anything they wanted at there baby. Our last min. choice after much debate was a piece of paper- what Baby doesn't love paper!? So you can imagine the chaos and inner turmoil each baby faced. Lucy I am sure was thinking -  "do I go for those keys, or those puffs, or my crazy mother who is waving a piece of paper at me like a mad woman!"  haha!  Well I am proud to say Lucy you Choose the right! Good work girl I knew those Primary songs would pay off! Not to take all the credit but I am pretty sure we won because I was the loudest and most obnoxious of the 3 moms out there. Which not only led Lucy to stay focused on me and crawl towards me, but also made it so the other 2 babies were scared of coming anywhere near the finish line and the crazy lady screaming! (oh the things I will do to win...oh and for free diapers!)
So awesome! 3 free boxes 96 count...Thank you Huggies!
So, naturally what song did we listen to on the way home? You guessed it "We are the Champions" It was a joyous celebration! And what victory would be complete without a delicious milkshake? We are teaching her young- You always reward your workouts with Chocolate!
I figured since the girl did all the work she deserved a reward better than just name brand diapers on her bottom! What a fun day!

Memory Lane...

If anyone knows me they know that I am slightly obsessed with High School Musical. I know, I know, SO 3 years ago, but a recent event in the news brought me to think about the good times. Zac and Vanessa have called it quits...(late news i know, it's been a few months) but I just got around to telling my brother the heart wrenching news seeing he is on a LDS Mission living in Chile and would not hear of such tragic events. Here is what I wrote him today:

I also thought I would inform you that Troy and Gabriella broke up. I have been hesitant to tell you because I know you would take it hard....but I only thought it fair that you know the truth. Sad, sad day. I thought he was "what she was looking for", i guess she just had to "go her own way", now all there's left to think about was "when there was me and you" so much for "we're all in this together!"

mauauahhah! I know I am so clever! I hope it at least it brought a smile to my brothers face. We shared in our love for the HSM era and it will always stay alive in our hearts!

Anyone remember this spoof?

my family is awesome! That rockstar comes home in JUNE!!!! Yay! Love you Nate!

Lazy Days of Winter

Life has been pretty dull and grey around here. We are totally ready for Winter to be over! We have just been hanging out and making the best of some of our warmer days..here's what we've been up to:
You can't see it super well but Lucy got her first goose egg a few weeks ago. That's what happens when Mom lets you sit on the bathroom counter top while she puts her makeup on. (I never left her side-btw) But, we still won't be doing that again since she kept bending over to try to turn the faucet knobs and ended up face planting it right into the sink!
But she is still smiling!! (that same day she scratched her nose...I swear i don't abuse my child!)
Lucy's first adventure outside- not in a stroller. Basically the first time she has touched grass, leaves, dirt...
And she is not a fan! She wouldn't crawl or even move. Sorry for the blurry pictures- and sorry Lucy for the unflattering photos- they were just too funny to not post!

I swap with a friend once a week while we each run errands and so we get to have this hunk over! Lucy is a fan of him! ;) It's really cute to watch! Will is soo sweet to her and she just follows him around like a little puppy dog!
Lucy loves to wrestle, be chased and play hide n seek. She just squeals, giggles, screams and shrieks. It's pretty funny!
I feel like these pictures don't even look like her, but that is her laugh/close my eyes to avoid that blinding flash look.
I love watching Lucy play with her daddy. They just adore each other! (and who can blame em?)

I think she kinda likes me too! It is impossible to keep this girl off me! If I am on the ground you can bet she will quickly be there to crawl all over me!
So besides taking way too many pictures of my daughter what else have I been up to? Crafting of course. Here are some of my recent projects that are completed and that I am completely in love with. My window pane with our family pictures in them. (They look even better printed Danielle!!! Thank you!)
I stole this idea from a friend, who am I kidding I steal ALL my ideas. But I loved this one. I might add more rosettes...what do you think?
I also am doing a card swap so here is mine, I just finished. I think it turned out super cute!
And last of all it was like 67 degrees yesterday, HALLELUJAH! (back to 40 today) so you can bet we were outside soaking up some rays!
Lucy was more into eating her glasses then wearing them, but at least it made for a few cute photos!
I know it's cliche, and I do have bad days, but I really do feel so lucky and blessed that I get to stay home with this cutie pie all day! Thank you Erik for working so hard for us! I couldn't be happier! Well...a little more sunshine wouldn't hurt! ;)
(just sayin)
