Baby Ballerina

 

These pictures KILL me! She just looks so adorable. I love having a little girl!

I am so glad we decided to sign her up for a small ballet/tap class at our local rec center. It's really low key and perfect for a beginner. Lucy get's better each week and the cuteness never get's old!

 

The first class had a ton of kids and parents in there and was a nightmare but they split the class into two classes and now we are in one with only 5 girls. It's perfect! They even dance "act out" the nutcracker story each week adding a little more. It's Lucy's favorite part!

Fall Festival

 One Saturday evening we went to check out a "Fall Festival" a nearby shopping center was throwing. I love walking around at these type of things. There was some fun activities for kids too.

 One of which was painting. It was a booth ran by a place that does art lessons for kids. The lady was all over me just pouring over how amazing Lucy is at such a young age and "look she is painting to the music" and totally acting like Lucy was a prodigy. I looked at Erik proudly and he quickly shattered my dreams when he reminded me they are trying to sell me on art classes! ha! True...

 

For dinner we experienced our first Wegmans buffet food which was Erik's heaven. We ran into some friends from our ward there which made for a fun night chatting with them! 

Lil' Kicker

 I know, I know! Soccer already? I am already that soccer Mom pushing my kid into everything! ;)

So she is a little young but she LOVES soccer and it gives us something to do. I already love cheering on my little girl each week and they are not even playing games yet!

It's basically a soccer class with other 3 YO's. It's an indoor facility that just does Soccer.

They do a really great job with the kids, running drills, play games, and doing basic soccer stuff.

We are signed up with a little boy named Keith from church and that makes it even better for both me and Lucy.

First Day Of Preschool

 

WHAT? My baby is 3! I can't believe it! I would be lying if I said I didn't do a happy dance after I dropped her off! HA! I think I will bawl my eyes out when Kindergarten hits (2 years) but for now I am excited for this girl to get some time with friends to learn and be on her own and I am stoked to get 3 hours of free time, twice a week to do whatever I wanna. ;) (or mop the floor) This year we decided to just do a Co Op Preschool with 4 other girls. So I take a turn teaching too which I actually really enjoy. It's been great for the both of us.

This girl thinks she is so cool for getting to go to School. Total "big girl" status right here. 

Richmond Visitors

We have loved getting a couple visits from Richmond Friends.

 Paige, Benson and Brylee came up and spent the whole day with us. We showed them around our place including the "big park" and went and fed the ducks. Then (maybe the real reason Paige came) we hit up the Disney Outlet! ha ha! It was SO great to catch up with Paige. Although It just mad me miss Richmond a TON! Lucy and Benson were adorable and picked up right where they left off. She misses her buddy too!

 

 

The next week we got a quick morning visit from the Morris' girls. I love Sarah and it was great to get to chat with her a bit. And Lucy and Sophie were reunited in all their glory! ha!

 

Earlier in August the Jaynes also came to see us for the day. It was so fun to see them too!

 

Man, we had some pretty awesome friends! I am so glad we are not too far to still be able to see them once in a while. I figure between the Temple, Café Rio, and Ikea I'm good with a visitor every month, right? ;)

 

House Progress

If there is one thing I am learning about home ownership it is that there is always something to be done and never enough time or money! Below is pretty much the only progress we have made since moving in. I thought by now we would have remodeled the whole place! :) I have gotten lazy and we are trying to be smarter and save up funds for a rainy day before we blow it all on our new house. So for now, what you see is what you get. Most things are far from being done but the spots we have improved I LOVE! Glimmer of hope people! ;)

I even painted the trim in the windows. That took FOREVER!

And I painted them shut! Awesome.

I was so proud of myself for not using tape on the trim. I free handed it and from a non artistic person like myself that's amazing! I am so happy with how it turned out and it totally saved me time!

AFTER

I am so happy with how the color turned out. It's a perfect warm gray.

I painted the dining room the same color. I plan to do some wainscoting on the bottom half of the walls. The walls don't really look green. And here are some great "before" shots on our free table.

As a side note it is nice to have a couple spaces that I don't feel I need to re paint. My bedroom for example. I love this color and it goes pretty well with my bed. Love this space for now!

Okay, so take a good look at this baby.

I sanded for DAYS!

During

Sanded down the top then re-stained it with several dark coats.

Then using my own chalk paint recipe (and by "my own" I mean pinterest) I painted the base and all the chairs white.

Meanwhile Daddy and Lucy installed a new storm door.

This was a labor of love for sure. I am not lying when I say it took him 11 hours to do.

We take our Labor Day's seriously around here.

 

 

But my how it paid off! Remember my old storm door with the black jail bars? No more!

It's amazing what a little TLC can do to spruce up your curb appeal!

(and I am a sucker for mums)

Also completed were my birthday shelves Erik made for me.

They go perfect in my dinging room and will always hold my holiday décor.

I don't love this dining room corner yet- still need to tweak some things but check out this hutch.

FREE! It was on our corner labeled free one afternoon after Church and you better bet I made Erik and myself lug that sucker in the house (with like 10 breaks) but we made it! I can't wait to paint it!

I couldn't be more proud of how this turned out. Usually my projects don't turn how I imagine them but it paid off to do my research, buy all the right products, and put hours of careful work into this baby. I love looking in on this table! The only bad thing is I am scared to eat on it! ha!

Yay for one (nearly) completed room!
