April Showers Brings May Flowers

Yesterday was a busy day with some of our good friends; the Lattins and the Sagers. We had the much anticipated surprise baby shower thrown by myself and Alicia Sagers for Lindsay Lattin and Andrea Waldron. It was very fun and very girly! We had a great turnout and Alicia and I had a blast planning it.
Then that evening we took a trip up to Salt Lake and did a session at the temple which was mine and Erik's first at the Salt Lake Temple and it was wonderful! Then we walked around the grounds a bit taking pictures with the beautiful tulips and daffodils. The flowers were truly gorgeous! I am so happy for spring! The evening concluded with dinner at none other than the classic Lion House Pantry. It was a fun day filled with Showers and Flowers! :)

NO DEAL!!!!

So, on Tuesday i saw an ad on the news saying that DEAL OR NO DEAL was coming to SLC to hold tryouts for the show. I thought..holy cow i could use a million dollars, so i told myself i would check online and if you didn't have to be 21 or older i would tryout. Well i totally forgot about it until Friday night at 10:00pm-classic. I found that you just had to be at least 18 years old. I was totally there! I mean how many people would actually fill out this 11 page application, go get a copy of there drivers license and go to this thing. But, like a typical girl i couldn't go alone. So, i recruited one of my crazy friends to go with. (who i think was just trying to get out of studying) The paper said that tryouts were from 10:00am-1:00pm and that if you got in line before 1:00pm you would be seen by a producer. So i was not in too big of a hurry. We drove from Provo to SLC and got there at about 10:20. I even asked my friend at the car if we should finish filling out our applications in the car in case we get up there and there is no line! HA!
We look in the parking lot of the largest RC Willey I have ever seen and there was quite a line, weaving through the parking lot etc. I was surprised (I'm so naive) but was ok with it, that's what i came for right? So Mary and i started our hunt for the end of the line. Right when we thought we had found it a policemen stopped us and told us the line was back there and this was simply a break in the line because of the train tracks. So with our spirits a little more down we continued our epic to the end of the line. Well with each turn out heads hung lower and with each block of SLC i got more and more frustrated. About 4 blocks later, past RC Willey we found the end of the line. This was insane. I couldn't believe how many people were here. Well so we stood in line and behind us were these obnoxious and very vulgar little boys who were screaming at everyone. I thought to myself if i have to stand in this line for hours listening to these boys i might shoot myself! This was crazy! I then saw a man walking toward us wearing a Deal or No deal shirt and carrying a cone with a sign on it. The sign said that from this point (where we were standing) the line was a 12 HOUR WAIT!!! WHAT!?!?! No...i am not that crazy...i wish i was...i truly do...but i couldn't do it. I asked the man to take our picture holding our applications and took a picture of the sign and that was it. Mary and i walked the shameful walk back to the car. As i walked back and looked at the line i saw pregnant women, i saw people in wheelchairs, people on crutches, adults with there 4 kids at there side, people with spray painted heads/faces....CRAZY PEOPLE!! With better stories and reason to win money then me. There is no way that i would even get picked. I know half of you(ie:my husband) are like...duh i could have told you that before you left! I don't know...i was shocked at the wait and the insanity. But hey it was fun. It was fun catching up with an old friend and at least it makes for a good story!

The Week of Birthday's!

I guess it was 2 weeks ago now was my Birthday. It was complete with a yummy ice cream cake my cute husband made for me, fun gifts and a poster from the family I nanny for, a sewing machine from my family and tickets to the musical Wicked from Erik and his family! I have been dying to see this show and i am soo excited to get to go to New York with my hubby at the end of this month to finally see it. It was a great 20th birthday. I am getting sooo old ;)

Just 3 day's after my birthday was Sheri's Birthday. (she is the mother of the family i nanny for) She is also a good friend and one of my old YW presidents from VA. So i decided what would a 40 something year old lady who is always busy working or being with her family want for her birthday..?...(that i could afford?) An Awesome 80's birthday party with her girlfriends! So that's what i planned a surprise party for her with some neighborhood and VA friends. It was a blast. It was a little stressful to plan and i had to do a lot of research since i was let's see...A BABY in the 80's (as you can imagine i was not an asset to my team in the 80's trivia game), but i think it really turned out great. Sheri the next morning said that it was the best birthday she had ever had, which made it all worth it! The 80's party was complete with 80's trivia, music, karaoke, pictures of us in the 80's, and my favorite... 80's candy! Oh yeah go back...we had the candy cigarettes, pop rocks, fun dip, razzles, jello, rice krispies, and Capri suns.

It was really fun to see all these older women let loose, have fun and reminisce. The night was filled with "omgosh, remember this...remember that" i couldnt get some of the women to shut up long enough to explain a game! lol. I think these women really loved the chance to go back to the 80's for a night! So-after a few drama's like the birthday girl almost coming home an hour too early, the thomas' cat pulling down my decorations and the little girls bawling there eyes out when there side pony tails i gave them "did not look as cute as mine" which was followed by my stressed out comments of "this is not about you...no one cares what you look like!!" (yeah i am a real great babysitter!) we managed to have a very successful 80's party!
