Snapshots of April

We kicked off April with an event we look forward to every year!
Short Pump Petting farm.
Finally after 3 years Lucy was MUCH braver and actually pet and fed the animals

I caught my extremely picky eater snacking on some weeds out back!
uhhh...no comment. ?

April Fools-Laytons Strike again.
This prank was actually their decoy prank...thank goodness I didn't get the
"Cory jumping out of a giant stuffed Penguin" part of this whole night.

How we found Lucy sleeping one night! ;)

I had to go into the dental school for a quick x-ray and brought Lucy along.

We finally tried Bottoms Up pizza down in Shocko bottom.
We went with the Laytons and had a wonderful time! yummy!

Saturday April 6th I organized a Yard Sale with fellow moving friends in our neighborhood.
We had an awesome turn out and I made a killing! De-junking sure paid off!

Lucy wiped out later that day during Conference!
I found it to be the perfect time to paint her toenails!

We tried to keep her pretty occupied on Sunday with different activities during Conference.
She loved finding the speakers pictures!
We enjoyed listening to the words of our prophets.
It was a great conference as always.

Between sessions we did a google hangout with my family.
This was a first. It was a little crazy but fun!

We also spent some time outside between session and discovered just how much Lucy and Mckinley look alike! Totally her mini-me!

One night before I went to bed I went to check on Lucy and found this!
I thought it was so funny that she had fallen asleep sitting up and under her covers!
Right after I took this picture, she pulled down the blanket and smiled at me!
She was totally awake and had been perfectly still that whole time!
Creeeppy!

It really warmed up for a few days. Like 90 degrees!
We enjoyed a park day!

Cooled off at the fountains

and even broke out popsicles!

We also broke out some of Lucy's new, fabulous summer ensembles.
I think this romper is my fav!

We had to try Ray's Italian Ice we had heard so much about!
This hot spring day seemed like the perfect chance.
It was delicious! You can put custard in your Italian Ice and its just amazing!

We started having our impromptu picnics out front again
What will Lucy and I do soon without constant friends? :(

Erik after boards in front of the Dental School.
I was his patient and it was extremely nerve racking and a really long day but HE PASSED!
YAY! I'm so proud of him!
Just one more step to go then Graduation here we come!

More of April to come...

Eastery things

To kick of the week of Easter we had a FHE on Christ's death and ressurction.
It incorprated Easter Eggs so Lucy LOVED it.
We also made this cute craft where Jesus "rises" out of the grave.
It's wonderful to see her starting to get some of this.
Each day that week we filled in a puzzle piece to our Easter picture and read a scripture or sang a song to prepare us for the weekend. It was really good for us all to focus on the last week of the Savoirs life.

Friday at Playgroup we learned all about the letter E.
E is for Egg!
Building the letter E with our bodies

Lucy was loving it and practiced more after our friends went home.

We spent the weekend at the Foxes.

We managed to squeeze in a little more birthday for both me and Dad.
Ice cream cake..yum!

I think it's fair to say Lucy was obsessed with Easter eggs.
We would hide them for each other and play with them all week.
Somehow the pronuncaction though got lost in translation. It was pretty funny!

Then the real Easter Celebrations began!
Coloring Eggs

Egg Hunt

Presents from Gma

Quality time with Sam

We also played Easter games and had a delicious Easter Dinner!

The next morning it was nice to have 1:00 church so we could relax in the morning.
The Easter bunny found us!
Lucy is so into the whole Easter Bunny thing. She still talks about it!
He sure nailed it with an umbrella and rain boots she was ecstatic!

We ate a delicious Easter Brunch of quiche, cinnamon rolls, bacon and fruit.

Decked out in our Easter Sunday Best!

Normally I wouldn't be happy about it raining on Easter Sunday
But this year was an exception! Lucy was thrilled to use her new umbrella!

Golden Birthday

My big quarter of the century birthday was on Monday March 25th.
The celebration started on Saturday when Erik's parents and sister Laura came down to take me to breakfast. It was really sweet of them to just come down for a few hours to celebrate with me. We went to Mimi's and I got the most amazing French Toast. It was like a cinnamon roll, dipped in batter and dowsed in syrup. Delicious! Then the biggest surprise of all they, with Erik got me tickets to Taylor Swift! I am so excited to see her. I know I am like 10 years too old for her music, but I love her anyway!

I love getting birthday packages and letters in the mail. It makes me feel so special.
My parents, grandparents and friends were so sweet to me this year!

I was pretty bummed to see that it was supposed to snow on my Birthday.
I was ready for beautiful spring weather! But, Erik being the awesome husband he is made it really fun. We went outside and rang in my birthday at midnight playing in the snow. We sled down our little hill in the back, made snow angels, had a snowball fight, it was really fun! Even better it was a delay for school so Erik got to spend the morning with us!

Lucy was sick that day. It was so weird, I couldn't keep her awake, she was so drowsy and lethargic. I loved spending my day cuddling her and watching movies. I did NOTHING! It was great!

This year for my Birthday I told Erik what I would love is for him to hand craft me some items for our home. I showed him some pinterest wants and boy did he come through!

Erik made me this growth chart!
I LOVE it! He did a good job!

He also made me 2 shelves! They look so awesome!
I love seeing him being all handy!

I hope this tradition continues...I love having Birthday Cake Remix for my "cake" YUM!

That night we went to get my two favorite things...bread and steak!!
Texas Roadhouse is the king of both those. It was yummy!

Last of all on Tuesday night my friends took me out for Ice Cream.

I love this girl!
(no I don't have a red streak in my hair...?)

And I got spoiled again from friends!

I'd say it was a perfectly golden birthday indeed.
