Party for the kids, or...ME?!

-This is an unplanned post lol, please see my wonderful post earlier today on pumpkin carvings...i hate having 2 posts on the same day-but I couldn't resist!-

I just got done throwing a party for our Sunday school class of 6th graders and seeing as it was a huge hit (much to my surprise) I think I can give some pretty good advice on the perfect ingredients for a pre-teen par-tay!

Step one: Plenty of greasy junk food- cookies, brownies, chips and soda (right up my alley)
Step two: type two words into your Pandora station "Justin Bieber" (wait a min...I already have that station saved on my personal playlist...)
Step 3: Add some corny but classic get to know you games as well as some other greats and you got a party. (I also love...wait a min...I am starting to see a trend...)

No wonder I had a great time!!! I think I still am 11 myself! Honestly, if you know me at all you know I am a HUGE game fan...and apparently once you hit about 15- games are not cool any more. Which kills me since i LOVE them..and so at the sweet age of 11 these kids will still play my games and thoroughly enjoy them with me. More fun than I have had in a looong time ...wow I'm pathetic!

But really, I have to be honest...I thought it was going to be a bit of a painful night (just service, you know) but I am very happy to report that I had a blast! I came away wanting to do it every weekend. I only got one fart in my face and a few obnoxious burps out of the boys but the girls were complete angels!

But really this is a huge deal- I am so relieved- here's why. Erik and I always talk about how I will take our kids from ages 0 to 5 and 12 on...because I am not a fan of the ages in between that and 5-12 is his favorite (we are perfect for each other, I know!) But here I was actually enjoying the obnoxious age of 11...Oh I am so happy, I will love my children at that age. What a relief!

Awesome! I teach the 10-11 year old girls and get them for Activity Days too . . . and seriously they are the funnest. I think we just forget what a fun it is to be a kid - you'll love doing stuff with Lucy at those ages . . . she'll be old enough to work on crafts and such but not too old to think that crafting with mom is lame :)
