country or love it? Either way you have to love the stories that the songs tell. Here is a song by Trace Adkins that i absolutely love! I think it describes life perfectly. I try to remember what the song is teaching in my daily life. It's really hard to not be always concerned with the future. It's important to plan for our future but not focus on it so much that we miss the present. It is so important to enjoy the here and now.I am constantly reminding myself this. It's the only way to be happy. When i stop and think about it i know that i really am going to miss this time in my life. So i am content for now...at least while this song is playing! :) Here are the lyrics below and if you actually want to listen click the link below.
She was staring out the window
Of their SUV
Complaining, saying,
I cant wait to turn 18
She said, "I'll make my own money"
And I'll make my own rules"
Mama put the car in park
Out there in front of the school
And she kissed her head
And said 'I was just like you"
You're going to miss this
You're going to want this back
You're going to wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're going to miss this
Before she knows it
She's a brand new bride
In her one bedroom apartment
And her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies
And buying a house
Daddy shakes his head
And says "Baby just slow down"
Cause
You're going to miss this
You're going to want this back
You're going to wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're going to miss this
Five years later
There's a plumber
Working on the water heater
Dogs barking, phones ringing
One kids crying, one kids screaming
She keeps apologizing
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got two babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
It's hard to believe..."
But
You're going to miss this
You're going to want this back
You're going to wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're going to miss this
You're going to miss this
Yeah you're going to miss this

I like those lyrics, too! I try to remember that when it's total chaos around here! And yes, I do miss the freedom I had before I had kids, so enjoy the time you have before you have kids! You can't really go get ice cream at midnight anymore ... at least not with your hubby! LOL! Before you know it you'll have four kids and be locking yourself in the bathroom desperately in need of alone time!
that's so weird that you posted about this because I thought of you when I heard this song the first time. And it is so true.
That is a great song. It's so funny because whenever i am out with the kids, i must have this look of kill me now or something, because every old woman comes up to me and tells me "cherish these times" and they grow up so fast. I love it because i absolutely feel it goes to fast. But Nichole i think you guys are wonderful and am so proud of all you have accomplished and so can't wait to see what will happen in the next four years.
I LOVE that song...you have great taste in music, I must say. It seems like every year goes by faster and faster, so it's nice to have little reminders like that to stop and smell the roses. Miss you!
O my heck I love this song! Everytime it comes on I just love to sit and listen to every word. It is so true people are always thinking about whats next trying to move ahead so fast when you just need to enjoy your life now cuz your only going to be newlyweds once, or have little kids once or be in highschool whatever it is your only going to have it once and then when its gone, its gone.
