1. You wake up 3 times in the middle of the night to pee. (we have to start closing our window when it is raining!)
2. You already feel like you are on a feeding schedule with this baby-demanding little bugger needs food every hour!!! (not an easy task for a picky eater-i have recently discovered protein shakes=lifesaver)
3. You gag as you walk down the isle's at the grocery store
4. You cry during a tide commercial (have you seen it, it's so cute!)
5. Your husband say's how excited he is for daylight savings time and you say- "but too bad we lose an hour.." He reply's..."no" and you exclaim.."Yes...Fall Forward, Spring Back!!!" (at least we will blame this on the pregnancy)
6. You have to clean up your brothers throw up all over his bed and you call your mother at 1 in the morning bawling, and gagging asking what you should do!!?! (umm...clean it up dork!)
7. You sleep...a lot, shamefully a lot when you have no job.
8. You try to trade your window seat with the aisle seat on the airplane and the lady refuses...i warned you, (got up to go potty 3 times)
9. You get off the plane after not seeing your husband for 2 weeks and being stressed on the airplane lugging around your illegally large carry-on that weighs more than you....and you just cry as soon as you see him. (note to self, especially while pregnant do not fly without your husband or a mule horse. Or pack less)
10. You make your father in law go to the grocery store to pick up the one thing you feel like eating...and by the time he gets back and you have one bite you are revolted by it.
11. You make your husband sleep on the floor because you can't stand the smell of his dinner still lingering on his breath. (even after making him brush his teeth 3 times)
12. You haven't made a single meal in almost a month. I want to cut off my nose! The only time I can go in the kitchen is if a candle is burning.
13. You keep having to tug down on your bra all the time cuz it is starting to come up leaving part of you hanging out at the bottom. (if you know what I mean!) So annoying!
14. You go to your ward halloween party dressed like this:
Get it?
Get it? So basically I am a JOY to be around these days. I have felt pretty sick, it's strange it goes in patterns. Like for 3 days straight i will be great, then for 5 days I will be miserable. So I guess I am not pulling out of it quite yet. I haven't felt like a functional wife in about a month. Erik has been more than wonderful doing everything!! BUT....I try really really really hard not to complain, and to laugh at myself. It feels so surreal. I can't believe this is for real. I am really pregnant, I am actually going to give birth to a Baby in May!!!! AHHHH!!! I am thrilled.
Another great moment was seeing our baby. We have now had the chance to see it twice. We go in again next week. (at 13 weeks) Here our are first pictures. I held still and saw the baby doing a little dance move-like the twist. I had been really impatient and annoying asking the Ultrasound lady lots of questions, mainly trying to calm my miscarriage fears. So when she saw the baby wiggling around she said "this baby is as impatient as you!" haha. Uh Oh...Erik is in for it!
Here's our little squirt at 8 weeks! Aww isn't it the cutest thing you have every seen? With it's little stud arms and legs!! So cute! btw...I have a feeling it's a girl...so just thought i would put that out there so i can get credit if I am right and be mocked if I am wrong. We find that out in December.

So cute! btw...I have a feeling it's a girl...so just thought i would put that out there so i can get credit if I am right and be mocked if I am wrong. We find that out in December. And here are the start of the baby bump pics. I think I look normal. I dunno.
4 1/2 weeks. (the day we found out!)
Week 8.
I need to take my week 12 one soon. I will have Erik do that tonight. I feel like I have a little pooch sometimes...and a huge one after I eat (more than normal) Do you bloat more when pregnant? Anway-not much in the belly area but I have noticed a big difference in the chest area. (okay-don't go checking me out now!)
Oh also- people have asked when we found out. On Labor Day after our ward breakfast party I had been about 3 days late, by then every month I get ancy and take a pregnancy test. (thank goodness for the dollar store!) So we stopped at the dollar store on the way home. When we got home I went in the bathroom while Erik waited outside. I always take the test and set it on the counter, it is so hard for me not to watch it the WHOLE time it is processing. So I tried to look away...let it process, but I peeked...and thought I saw a faint second line...oh my gosh...oh my gosh...so i stared at it, read the box explaining that even if it was faint it still counted...I starting bawling! I ran out of the bathroom, bawling and of course Erik doesn't know what that means...and I can't even speak I am crying so hard...the only thing I can get out of my mouth is "There's 2 lines!" He runs in to look and he comes out crying. We just hug and cry and laugh and smile....It seriously was the greatest feeling in the world. Then we immediately knelt down and said a family prayer, thanking our Heavenly Father for this tremendous blessing. Then the next few weeks were extremely difficult as i doubted and was overcome with fear of miscarriage that it ruled my life. I couldn't even enjoy being pregnant. But after blessings from Erik and praying I felt comforted and knew I had to be positive and happy, and everything would be okay.
The Evidence
Now I do want to say this. I have been waiting over 2 years to blog about all this stuff. And during that time I have read thousands (it felt like) of other peoples blogs talking about there pregnancies and babies. I usually dealt with it pretty well. But, I understand there are those that it is more difficult for, who are struggling to get pregnant. So I want to be sensitive to those, yet at the same time I feel like it's my time and my turn to enjoy this. So this is my blog and I will write my experiences and feelings but I do want to say that Erik and I continue to pray every day for those of you trying to get pregnant. And I know how hard it is, and how devastating and frustrating it is, but I promise you too will have the joys of getting a positive test and the joys of being a mother. I know the Lord will bless you. I know hindsight is so much easier, and we all know I wasn't a peach about it all the time either, it is tough. But hang in there. I know this is the time I was meant to have this child. And the struggle just makes it that much sweeter. Remember as President Uchtdorf's talk said "the Lord remembered Rachel, and he will remember you." I know that is true. Trust in the Lord, he knows what he is doing, and be patient. It will happen.
p.s. for those who are wondering also, i found a great doctor, thanks to Sara and Brittney's suggestions (im so sneaky you probably don't even remember!) I am seeing Dr. Mahoney, and I LOVE her! So thanks girls!
p.p.s- im freakin out about the swine flu...i haven't got the shot yet-Im working on it. Any thoughts? Erik is like "at least you don't really come in contact with anyone!" thanks sweetie (yes i sit in my house all day-usually in my robe, watching our 2 channels of t.v.) But as many have told me...i should enjoy it while i can..right?

I am so excited for you! And yes, this is your time to enjoy it so love every second!
That is the best update on early pregnancy I've ever read on any blog anywhere! Loved it! You are so cute and so is your little baby! Seriously write everything you ever want to about pregnancy on here. It IS your time and we, the inexperienced or unpregnant, can read all about it and prepare ourselves for when it's our turn:)
Hey great to hear!
Oh I totally remember when the bra didn't fit right anymore! SO Frustrating. I think before Alice was born I had to go to through 2-3bras. Crazy!!! We are SO EXCITED for you!!! It IS your TURN!!!
oh the joys of pregnancy! don't worry, I thought i was poochy around 14-16 weeks too, but isn't it great not worrying that you are getting a gut because that is what you are SUPPOSED to be doing! Also, amen to the growing chest...us "itty-bitty titty" girls i think really notice that more during pregnancy.
I'm gagging, puking, and feeling the awful wonderful signs of early pregnancy right along with you, gal! How ironic that in order to keep from throwing up you have to eat every one-two hours, and most of the time, I'm trying to hold back a gag as I'm putting it into my mouth! Great narratives and like Lyndsey and Tony said, you nailed it! Make sure you print this off for your journal because your little one will love reading about himself or herself one day!
Thanks for keeping us abreast of everything, and I really can't wait to get a second to talk to you! Sure love you and E!
Thank you for your sweet words. You are very honest and open, I like it:) We are so happy for you. You have waited long and hard for this. I'm with you, go for it! This is your chance to cherish and journal every detail of your pregnancy. Congrats!! I loved your costumes. What a cute way to announce your big news!
hahaha you kill me!! That post was so fun to read and I am SOOOOO excited for you guys. There are too many comments I have to put about this post so I think I'm just going to have to talk to you in person...but oh the stories we can share about being emotional while pregnant and I can't believe the lady on the plane wouldn't switch you seats!!
I just found your blog! And I agree--you should make the most of this time. Your blessings are your blessings... they're meant to be enjoyed. :)
Congrats again!
That is the best Halloween costume ever! I love it!!! That would have been hilarious to show up to Erik's family's house dressed in that to tell them that you are prego! JK! I'm excited for you two!
You guys are awesome. I laughed through most of your post! Good luck :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Halloween costume-SO CUTE!!! Yes-you bloat more when you're pregnant, ESPECIALLY after you eat. I was always bigger at night because my tummy had time to pooch out more during the day. I can't wait to see if you're right about it being a girl..GIRLS ARE THE BEST!! Ok..so I have only had a girl and don't knwo what boys are like..but I definitely love our little Addi :) whichever the baby turns out to be, you'll love he/she topieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats congrats congrats! I am SOOOOOOO excited for you. You two will be the greates parents. I can totally relate to everything you said....esp. wanting to rip your nose off. I remember asking Jason to tell me before he would wamr up food in teh microwave so i could leave the room and asking him to make sure to rinse his dishes really well so I wouldn't have to smell the remnants. I hate that stage and it will pass! I LOVE your costumes. SO CUTE!!!!!
by the way...about the swine flu shot...I dbeated teh same thing and had heard horror stories about pregnant women getting it. I decided not to get it. I have read a lot about it and it sounded like you would have problems if you had repiratory issues like asthma. Anywho, just thought I would put in my two cents. I would get the regular flu shot though.
Ah, morning sickness. Good thing our little babies are worth it (and they definitely are!). I hope you're not throwing up every day, though...that's the pits. And I LOVE your Halloween costume...very creative :). (I secretly hope you're having a girl...they are SO fun. I love seeing how much Jason loves his little ladies. They're so cute...and VERY fun to dress up. Although I'm sure boys are great, too :)
Hilarious costumes! How cool. I hope prego sickness passes for you. I was sick the last 6 w/my first & all 9 w/both my other 2!
I haven't ever got the flu shot while prego because I was puking 24/7 anyway! The swine flu has been around for years, so not sure why all the hype. You only have to be careful if you start having problems breathing, like Claire said.
Good luck & congrats!
I loved reading this post and we are so excited for your little one to arrive. She/He is so lucky to have you guys for his parents. All I can say is just keep enjoying every minute. You are going to be such a great mom! I hope our babies can be buddies:)
I'm so excited for you!!!! Congrats!!
You're so cute! What a fun blog post! I'm really so excited for you guys! Everything you said just hit home so much. It took us 2 yrs to get pregnant with Elsa and a year with this one (seemed like an eternity though). I did not seem to deal with it as well as you though and took offense to everything everyone would say. I know so many people who are going through this and some that have adopted. But it truly does happen when the time is right and the Lord knows each of us best. I know that now. :) Best of luck to you and I wish we could be closer to go through this together, but we'll just have to keep in touch through blogging. Love ya!
First of all, LOVE your costume! You guys are so cute. And for the blocks, I really did copy yours... exactly. I made stencils from the picture you posted and just cut it out of card stock. No vinyl involved. Haha, I guess I made the poor man's version :)
oh my heavens!!! that is SOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!! CONGRATS you two!!!!!!!!!! :)
Yeah! Congratualtions guys! I saw the news on your mom's blog. I'm excited for you two. Hang in there through the sickness part. In the end it's all worth it!
I am so happy for you guys!! Congratulations- that is the best news!
i just stumbled on your blog somehow, hopefully you dont mind me reading/commenting!!
anyway, congrats!!!!
you are really awesome for putting that note in there for other women who are trying. you have struck a really good balance between being super excited and being sensitive to the girls who are waiting month after month.
you mentioned that you tried a bunch of treatments and stuff... do you think it happened because you weren't stressing about it? my doctor keeps telling me to quit worrying so much and that could be part of my problem... but its hard not to think about it!!
anyway, congrats, you guys seem really great and that is wonderful news!!
Oh my gosh! I am still crying from reading your blog! I AM SOOOOOO HAPPY for yall! YEA!!!! I can't believe it is finally happening!! YEA!
great, thanks a lot... now my nose is all runny...
i am so stinking happy for you! i love those dollar tree prego tests--i think i've bought 200 of them!
Oh Nikki! That post was so sweet. I was totally crying - and I'm not even pregnant!
I loved it. I'm am so excited for you - and it's so nice that you do feel sick, b/c that's a good sign that things are normal. But, of course, if you're starting to feel better, don't panic, b/c that's normal too at this stage. I totally relate to everything - and it was fun to "relive" pregnancy through you. Of course, it was only fun b/c I wasn't actually going through it!
And btw, you do bloat more being pregnant. I always felt so bloated in the first trimester.
I love ya - and you deserve this so much! You 2 are gonna be the best parents.
I know if you will even read this comment but I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face soooo happy for you! I know the heartache and the pure joy of what you are going through. I'm so happy you will get this experience. And I'm due just one week after you! So it will be fun to read a first-timer going through it as I go through it for the third time!
I am so bad about checking blogs but I just caught up on all your posts... I have way too many comments to post all, but here goes my best shot: I love the purple bathroom--you have super nice stuff for newlywed/college students! I also love your Halloween costumes and the fact that you have so much fun with the holiday (pumpkins, etc.) Your writing style is so fun to read and your blog is so cute. This post was AWESOME, as others have said before me. Super funny and realistic, even if I never have been pregnant before. I think it is very sweet of you to be concerned for others who are having trouble. I can totally relate in that I feel the same way about marriage--it's so frustrating to want something righteous and to not be blessed with it. I also loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk and cried through it. I have prayed not to have the things I want, but to NOT want things I can't have. So therefore I am ecstatic for you and humbled that your first reaction was to get on your knees and thank your Heavenly Father, and that you continue to pray for those who are still struggling. Miscarriages can cause Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder--that fear that you are not in control of your own life and fear that something bad will happen. I think being nervous is so normal and strength comes from feeling that fear, overcoming it, and allowing yourself to enjoy each moment, despite the fears. I'm glad everything is going well and I'm sure of what you said that this is truly the Lord's timing--all things always are! I love you guys and wish you all the best. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. (And I already picked out some fabric for some cute baby stuff for you, so let us know when you know what you're having.)
P.S. My bra creeps up like you said all the time, except I'm definitely NOT pregnant. I was hoping that would someday alleviate the problem because they'd be bigger. Sigh. I hate breasts!!
Congratulations, Nichole!!! I haven't been reading many blogs for awhile but I thought I'd check in on you and was thrilled to read that you're pregnant. I hope everything continues to go great. Ultrasounds are the best.
